Traditional metal Brackets

Traditional metal brackets are the most commonly used type of orthodontic brackets. We offer Ormco metal brackets, as well as a titanium option for patients with metal sensitivities or allergies. These brackets utilize small elastic ties (color ties) to secure the arch wire in place. These small elastic ties are typically replaced every six weeks during routine adjustments.

Damon Self-Ligating Brackets

Dr. Larkin offers self-ligating braces in both metal and clear ceramic. Self-ligating braces are similar to traditional braces, but they do not need elastic ties to guide the movement of the teeth. Instead, self-ligating brackets have a small door that closes over the arch wires and applies pressure to assist in moving the teeth, replacing the need for elastic ties. Self-ligating brackets are phenomenal for patients who are severely crowded or may not be able to come in as frequently for adjustments since the doors provide constant pressure to the arch wires.

Ceramic Brackets

Ceramic brackets offer a discreet and more comfortable aspect to orthodontic treatment. These brackets are virtually invisible and are a great alternative if you would prefer for your braces to be less visible. In conjunction, we also offer tooth colored arch wires to help disguise the braces even further. Dr. Larkin offers both self-ligating and regular brackets in clear ceramic.
